Second Cinema Campesino Film Festival
More than 800 community members turned out to enjoy Un Mundo’s second annual Cinema Campesino film festival in El Pital in September 2003. Two films were shown that provided an opportunity for discussion about immigration and life in the Cuenca Valley of Honduras. The film festival also provided the subject matter for documentaries produced by a group of University of San Francisco film makers who helped facilitate the events.
At this time Dutch video/film engineer Ronald Reinds also started development of a Cinema Campesino Film Institute, to provide local youth with the opportunity to explore their culture while developing a critical understanding of media.
