Un Mundo wants dedicated people, for whom development work is a passion and comes naturally. All positions require interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to work independently but as an integral part of a team. The following descriptions of our present volunteer positions are meant as a mere starting point, as successful applicants will be expected to further develop their respective positions as their efforts contribute to Un Mundo´s evolution within its mission. Volunteer Positions in Honduras

Un Mundo is currently seeking candidates for the following short-term volunteer positions. 

Visiting Artists for Art and Cultural Festival  Un Mundo is currently seeking visual and performance artists to facilitate educational community-based art initiatives in rural Honduran communities during a month-long festival which will take place in July 2010.  The primary purpose of the festival is  to use different art forms to explore and learn about local history and cultural identity.  Through music, poetry, dance, theatre, photography, film, and other visual arts, participants will discover how art is used around the world to distinguish cultural characteristics as well as to document history.  Participants will then analyze how visual and performance art has been used to document the history and culture of the people in Honduras.  Finally participants, through these discoveries will use one of the above mentioned art forms to document their own stories and histories of their communities.  The last week of the festival will commence with a traveling performance to each of the seven communities, which will feature a presentation from each workshop, which will educate the larger communities about the issues learned throughout the workshops.  Un Mundo will be available to support all facilitators develop an appropriate workshop curriculum and to handle ground-work and preparation, however facilitators would be responsible for developing their own curriculum staying within the Un Mundo framework and theme.  If you are interested in being a primary (Spanish required) or secondary facilitator for one of the workshops and have experience or skills related to the theme or one of the art forms mentioned please contact Un Mundo no later than May 1st, 2010.

Volunteer Positions in the US and Beyond

Fundraisers Un Mundo is looking for volunteers to fill three distinct positions on our fundraising team. We are looking for a grant writing coordinator to help identify funding sources and help develop grant proposals, a direct mailing coordinator to help develop and implement a direct mailing program, and an activities coordinator to help design and execute fundraising activities, such as banquets and concerts.

Benefit Party-Planners Un Mundo currently hosts two annual multicultural fundraising events, one in the San Francisco Area and another in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area in North Carolina.  We are looking for locally-based (SF or RDU) volunteers who would be willing to be on the annual steering committee to help coordinate the planning and organizing of either of these annual events. 

Data Management Help Un Mundo manage electronic donor and other data bases and records. Work remotely but as part of a team. Up to five hours a week commitment required.

Web Site Assistants Help Un Mundo keep its web page fresh and up to date. Work remotely but as part of a team. Up to five hours a week commitment required. Knowledge of PHP particularly helpful.

Translators Help Un Mundo translate documents from English to Spanish. Work remotely but as part of a team.
