Volunteer Health Workers

We at Un Mundo very strongly believe in the need to support the Honduran health workers who struggle to band-aid their country's fundamentally broken health care system. Although we do assist in visits from medical brigades, we prefer to encourage long-term volunteer efforts to improve the health care system in Honduras. And while health care workers treat patients one-on-one, we encourage volunteers to take a public health approach to their work, focusing on prevention and promoting an awareness among their patients that their health issues are both a cause and effect of underdevelopment.

If you are a health care professional interested in coming to Honduras, Un Mundo can help you find a work-live placement in a rural community very much in need of your services. You will work directly with a physician in Honduras and one of our on-site facilitators to work out the logistics of your visit.

Read the reports of two of our volunteers, and then if you are interested in being a health care volunteer, contact Un Mundo at info@weareunmundo.org.
